We’re Starting Work on SIBRO 4.0

After ten years of learning from more than 130 insurance brokers, we are rebuilding SIBRO for its next chapter. This is where the journey begins.

How SIBRO began

The SIBRO journey began in 2015. The first version was built for AIMS Insurance Broking in Trivandrum, led by my cousin Prasanth Peter. Their Excel-based processes were no longer scaling with the business. They needed a better system.

At the time, insurance brokers had very few software options. We saw an opportunity to build something shaped around their actual operations.

We thought it would take one month. Once we began, however, the scope expanded and new ideas emerged. Within four months, we had the first working version running smoothly.

That was SIBRO’s first version.

The implementation succeeded. Our second customer was SECURUS, another insurance broker in Trivandrum.

When we began working with a third broker, we realised something important: no two brokerages operate in exactly the same way.

The third implementation brought requirements far beyond what we had originally designed. We realised that the product needed a more adaptable foundation, and began building SIBRO v2.

What ten years taught us

By 2017, we were supporting four brokers. Referrals began coming from employees who moved from one brokerage to another. That told us we were solving a real problem.

We decided to commit seriously to the insurance broking domain. By then, we had developed meaningful domain experience and could see a significant gap in the market. We established a dedicated SIBRO team and built SIBRO v3.

From then on, we continuously studied users’ pain points and turned solutions into product updates.

By 2019, more brokers were choosing SIBRO after seeing it demonstrated. We grew.

Today, we are a team of 24 serving more than 130 insurance brokers. Ten years of continuous improvement have taught us a great deal.

Why we are building SIBRO 4.0

SIBRO now supports most of the day-to-day operational requirements of an insurance brokerage. But the possibilities created by AI, automation and connected systems have made us reconsider what the platform could become.

SIBRO 4.0 will rebuild the platform’s core foundation while carrying forward the operational knowledge accumulated over the last ten years. This will allow our engineering team to introduce future improvements faster and with greater consistency.

On 21 September 2026, we will officially begin developing SIBRO 4.0.

SIBRO 4.0 will be shaped by everything we have learned over the last ten years—the problems we have solved, the limitations we have encountered and the opportunities we have not yet addressed. Some improvements will feel familiar and incremental. Others will fundamentally change how work is captured, assigned and completed inside SIBRO.

SIBRO 4.0 will introduce a built-in mailbox, a redesigned user experience and customisable workflows. It will also support the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing compatible AI tools to interact with SIBRO through controlled, standards-based connections.

We are targeting our first controlled migrations and pilot implementations during November and December 2026. Broader migrations will follow in phases after validation.

This is only the beginning. As we build SIBRO 4.0, we plan to share regular updates from inside Protracked—the decisions we make, the problems we encounter, what we learn and how the platform gradually takes shape. Not every decision will remain unchanged, but we want to make the journey visible.
